Quality
PMETB quality assure training schemes and Trusts by triangulating data from a variety of sources. The School of Psychiatry and its partner Trusts have developed processes to ensure that posts, trainers, Trusts and Schemes all meet the necessary standards. Theses pages bring together all the necessary resources, and sources of information. Quality management has several components:
PMETB have published Standards for Training, Standards for Curricula and Standards for Deaneries. These underpin all School quality processes

Post Approvals
Post approval - all Trusts and programmes will be working to ensure that posts meet the standards required by PMETB in 2010, which includes training trainers to the required standard. Any changes to existing posts, or new applications should be made using the post approval forms. The forms are:
- Form 1: Application
- Form 2: Job description
- Form 3: Trainee timetable
- Form 4: Trainer timetable
- Form 5: Learning objective
- Form 6: Educational superisor details
All existing posts also need to be documented using the standard templates.
Locum posts can only be approved as Clincial supervisors, not Educational supervisors, and must meet the standards set out in the School Locum policy
Safety for Trainees
The safety of trainees is of paramount importance. Standards are described in documents from the RCPsych, the NWDeanery and the School of Psychiatry Safety Policy
In the event of a serious untoward incident, trainees should complete the violent incident form which should be sent to the PostGraduate Education team. In addition, trainees should complete any Trust policies or paperwork
Pastoral Care
The School supports trainees throughout their training, but particularly in times of difficulty or career uncertainty. More information can be found in the relevant career policy, or contact Dr Cathy Shaw, the School's Director of Pastoral Care for more advice

The School of Psychiatry recommends that Tutor vacancies should be advertised as appropriate within the Trust, and recruited by interview. The Deanery has recommended guidelines, and the School has also prepared a draft Person specification, Job description and Appointment process for local modification
